The second disc carries mostly edits from some of Africa 70's and Africa 80's best-known tunes, though some of these - 'Teacher Don't Teach Me No Nonsense,' 'Beasts of No Nation,' and 'Shuffering and 'Shmiling' - are over 12 minutes long. The two outliers - 'Zombie' and 'Colonial Mentality' - are excellent readings by the musical's Fela! Allmusic | [2] |
The Allmusic review awarded the album 5 stars, stating: 'While continuing along in his tradition of savvy instrumental innovation, Shuffering and Shmiling plays out with the same intensity and voracious soloing that mark other great Africa 70 performances like Confusion, Gentleman, and No Agreement; but the point of departure here is the outward remarks he makes on a touchy topic: religion.'[2]

Until now one of the lost treasures in Fela’s discography, the title track of this album is said by some discographers to have originally been released in 1978, as the flipside of “Shuffering and Shmiling,” on the French label Barclay. The Perambulator album itself – “Perambulator” b/w ”Frustration” - was first released in 1983 on the Lagos International label. In 1998 both tracks were included on a Victor label CD along with “Original Sufferhead,” but apart from that, nothing. The album has been eagerly sought after by collectors for decades.Tracklist:
